Osteoporosis-DON'T GET SOFT!

Osteoporosis-DON’T GET SOFT!!

Strong-Foundation-neurostructural-dr-mankal

Every week in practice I witness someone telling me they have Osteoporosis, or I see evidence of Osteopenia[thinning of bones] on x-rays .Osteoporosis and osteopenia affects over 3 million people in Canada, which can have devastating consequences!

Current cost: $1.3 billion each year, by 2018, estimated cost is $32.5 billion

Osteoporosis affects 1 in 4 women and 1 out of every 8 men over the age of 50.

More women die each year as a result of osteoporotic fractures than from breast and ovarian cancer combined!! Very concerning!

Bone health  is a dynamic daily process that is effected by so many factors like diet, exercise, pH balance, medications, smoking and aging.  From the recent report from The FDA, “it has mandated that proton pump inhibitor[PPI] heartburn medications must carry a label warning of increased fracture risk.  This group of drugs includes Prevacid, Prilosec, and Nexium.” Their website says,” “… [The decision is] based on the Agency’s review of several epidemiological studies that reported an increased risk of fractures of the hip, wrist and spine in patients using proton pump inhibitors.”

At our upcoming workshop on Wed. May 25th,I will be discussing the 5 Essentials to Maximize Bone Health ,including my 10 minute bone health program. One of the questions I will be answering is WHY do we drink the most milk in the world and have the weakest bones?!

I am so excited to present this information, because I know it will get you to rethink what you may know about OSTEOPOROSIS, and get you to move in a more pro-active direction, so that you can enrich the quality of your lives!
